Declutter Your Life

January 27, 2016October 15, 2017Leave a comment

Like any good lil' blogger I planned out my posts for the month. Today I was planning to share with you a few tips on winter running. But I changed my mind. Lately I've been focusing on decluttering my life. And gosh, does it feel good. Our lives can so easily become cluttered-- physically, mentally and emotionally. Every … Continue reading Declutter Your Life

Fueled by Hemp – Hemp Heart Bar Review

This post was sponsored by Manitoba Harvest. As always, opinions are my own. We've all heard time and time again the benefits of protein, especially post-workout. Protein aids in muscle recovery, helps you build lean muscle and keeps you full longer. A few months ago I was introduced to a new-to-me type of protein. Hemp … Continue reading Fueled by Hemp – Hemp Heart Bar Review

"A left run is not recommended" Guide to the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon River Day 10 was a turning point for me in the Grand Canyon. I joined the elite Grand Canyon Swim Team. Was this a group I wanted to be part of? Absolutely not. I'm really not a huge water person. … Continue reading Welcome to the Grand Canyon Swim Team!

Eating & Pooping in the Grand Canyon

January 4, 2016October 15, 2017Leave a comment

So, how do you, um, poop in the Grand Canyon? And how will you eat? These, and slight variations, were the most asked questions when we were preparing for our private Grand Canyon white water rafting trip. Our responses ranged from the ridiculous-- A drone will fly into the canyon and airdrop food for us. To … Continue reading Eating & Pooping in the Grand Canyon

Although I definitely won't turn down any chocolate that's gifted to me-- I do think Valentine's Day is a made up commercialized holiday. Love should not be reserved for a single day of the year. Be love every single day. Embody it. Show love to others in all you do. Show love to yourself in all you do. We teach others how to love us by how they see us loving ourselves. I show love to myself by choosing to make caring for my body, mind, and soul a priority. I have a set of positive affirmations I repeat daily. I am strong, beautiful, and confident. I am bold and courageous. I am free to be my true authentic self, and am loveable exactly as I am. I am enough. Change your thoughts, change your emotions, change your behavior. Our minds are the filters through which we experience life. Get your mind straight and everything else will fall into place. That's power right there. What positive affirmations do you need to hear more often? Thank you @sierrabarrettyoga for the sweet gift and reminder to make self love a priority. You are such a beautiful soul ❤️
What habits are preventing you from reaching your goals? I tend to be the main habit standing in my own way. Stressing over not being able to do it all or when things aren't done up to my standard. Holding on too tightly. Worrying about things that don't matter. You know-- the standard high strung, Type A, pitta personality drama. Journaling and meditation are becoming my way to slow down, look inward, and reflect on how I can learn to let go and accept what is. To remain above the emotional upheaval of imperfection-- an observer not an active participant. Reconciling the fact that I can be my best brightest highest self and also be a work in progress. Remembering that we're all imperfect beings and we never really know what's going on inside a person. Remaining open, vulnerable, kind, and respectful despite-- maybe in spite of-- whatever reaction or interaction I am on the receiving end of. Remembering to breathe deeply and intentionally. Not assuming a specific outcome, but accepting what will be and letting go of tightly held control and expectations ✌️❤️
Oh, hey there, stress. While insulin, physical activity, and a balanced diet are crucial-- I believe the true micromanagement of this disease will be found in stillness of the mind, intentional breath work, and learning to be an observer of my emotional state not an active participant. Needless to say, I feel pretty crappy today, emotionally and physically. Some manual labor and yoga/pranayama practice are on the agenda tonight ✌️❤️🧘
